Class 2 - remembrance day paper making

On Remembrance Day this year all activities were based on the theme of Remembrance. As part of this we took part in the whole school workshop on paper making.

We learnt how to make paper

Concentration and team work is required!

We needed to be organised and clear away immediately

Concentration and not much chatting!

We had a super workshop and the paper made
(on the theme of Remembrance) was excellent.
We will certainly be doing this again!

Rock Topic

Last term our topic was Stone Age to Iron Age and this term we are studying Rocks.  One of our parapetic music teachers Mrs Atkinson is a geologist and has offered to come into to teach us about rocks - brilliant as she has so many resources that we don't have.

Practical and quick rock erosion using sweets and sugar cubes!
Children really understood what erosion was after this lesson!

Getting ready for practical work

Demonstrating rock porosity

Everyone interested

Beginning to lock at different types of rocks - igneous, metamorphic or sedentary?

PE in Class 2

One of our favourite warm ups!

Special visitor to Class 2

Over the years we have encouraged special visitors into Class 2 and we have had kittens, guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs.  Our latest visitor was Wanda, Maddie and Elspeth's new dog.

She was very well behaved and the children were very excited to see her!  Thank you Mrs Barnabas for sharing her with us!

Enterprise Week

We have had a fabulous week!  We have all worked really hard and learned lots, best of all we worked as a team - we might set up in business!

We (or rather George) decided that we would operate a hand wash car service plus the Pitstop café whilst parents had their cars washed.  We made all the scones, flapjacks, brownies etc. and even provided an afternoon cream tea.

We made a profit of £311 which we will spend on our class - another example of teamwork!  Fabulous!

Important job - filling the buckets!

You have to get a bit wet when washing cars!

Checking what others are doing!

A fully booked session!

PitStop café - we have to enjoy ourselves whilst we wash up!

A full house for our café!

A big thanks to Mrs Richardson and Mrs Barnes (our teaching assistants) for working really hard with the children this week!

Animal day

As part of our recent creative day with the theme of animals, we all dressed up as animals, we did a lot of writing about animals - Haiku Beastiarys, Dragon OSIE (using Observation, Sensations, Imagination and Emotions) to describe different dragons, Wordles and Dragon diaries - some fabulous work!

Mr Walker also brought in his ducks for us to see!

A very successful day!

Partial solar eclipse

We couldn't not go outside to observe this - the next one won't happen for many years!

Thanks to Dr Ridout for making cardboard pinholes for us to use.

We were already outside doing PE!
